Studio

Arcola is a London-based architectural and interior design studio founded in 2018 by Sami Jalili and Tom Mackenzie-Burrows. The studio works across a variety of sectors, including residential, hospitality, retail and workplace, and draws on the distinct backgrounds of its two founders.

Jalili’s unconventional path through art and academia lends to his approach a feeling for atmosphere and narrative, focusing on how spaces feel to inhabit rather than adhering to trends. Mackenzie-Burrows’ training in interior architecture and user-centred approach to design prioritises precision, craftsmanship, and a sense of purpose. Together these skill-sets result in thoughtful structures, interiors and pieces of furniture that emphasise production processes and lasting qualities.

Our approach is design-focussed and highly responsive to the human needs or commercial identities of our clients. We offer everything from design consultations through to complete design and build packages, and maintain kitchen and cabinetry manufacturing facilities in West London, from where we supply furniture to both our own and other studios’ projects.
